(In a previous blog, I wrote how the direction of your front door can impact your life in that house.)

If your front door faces south, this is a very good direction.

South represents the peak of the sun, the peak of summer and the peak of the day (noontime). It is very strong yang energy. It is ruled by the Fire Element.

Living in a home that faces south, you and your family may have lots of attention from the community or in your careers. It is a social house. It is a place for fame, recognition and reputation.

This is a good home for a politician, however, you must be vigilant that good reputation is maintained, as you are in the spotlight. (The main door of the White House faces south!)

How to Activate the Energy of the South

To get the most benefit from this direction, use the Fire Element. Plant some red flowers outside your front door or paint the door red. Or you can also use the Wood Element, which supports Fire.  Tall shrubs flanking your entry, or wood furniture on your porch are good ways to add the Wood Element.

How to Tame the Fire

Too much Fire energy though can cause conflict in the home. Add a water feature outside the door can temper this energy. (The White House has both red flowers and a fountain!)

    Generally, a south-facing door (in the Northern hemisphere) is very auspicious. The door receives sunlight all day.

    If your front door faces west, your back “sits” east. I would need your birthdate to see if that direction is compatible with your birth energy.

    Hi Rami,
    You are a 9-East Group person. We go by the sitting direction of the home, which is opposite from the facing direction. So your best sitting directions are East, Southeast, South and North. Therefore, your best facing directions are opposite of that: West, Northwest, North and South. Good luck!

    If you are in the northern hemisphere, and while standing in the doorway looking out you are facing south, that is very fortunate – because your front door receives lots of sunlight.

    You are an East Group person and it is good for your house to “sit” south, which means that the front of the house faces north.

    If you are a male, you are an East Group person and when you’re entering into your home (facing the back) you should be facing North, South, Southeast or East.

    I have a question, I have purchased the land which is west facing not proper west facing.

    The builder has come out with the plan and the main door is facing South West. My Kua number is 4 and my wife Kua number is 5.

    I understand from the KUA number 4 the South West is not favourable direction, however for 5 the South West is good.

    Since I live in Southern Hemisphere, could you please let me know if the South West direction is good.

    Yes, thank you for purchasing the ebook. Good questions!

    First, if you took a picture of the house, would you be looking at the West facing side or the SW side? Sometimes it’s a bit tricky figuring out the facing direction – it is not ALWAYS where the front door is located.

    If it’s SW – yes, this is a good direction for your wife. The house will be most supportive for her. If the front door cannot be changed, I would recommend that you make sure that your bed placement is one of your best directions (E, S, N, or SE). This way you are both covered. Also, if you bedroom could be placed in one of those sectors of the home, that would be another bonus for you.

    And, good question about Southern Hemisphere. The Kua directions don’t change – they are what they are.

    In the current plan the door is facing south west (230-232 degrees) but we also have the choice for the door to be placed toward West (288-290 degrees). Which position do you recommend.?

    SW is better for the front door. It’s your wife’s “Fu Wei” (stability) and it’s the lesser of an issue for your 4 Kua #.

    I know this is an old post , but I stumbled across it while looking up the direction for a house. My husband and I are looking to rent a house for about 1-2 years, the entire house faces south (Garage door, Front Door, Front of the house). His birthday is 10-09-63. A long time ago someone once told my husband that he’s a “North” person and I’m trying to look stuff up online to see if having a house facing South would be detrimental to him.

    Please please help .. Me and my husband are planning to buy our dream family home but very confused which house direction will be good and lucky for us. According to vastu south east house bring bad luck also vastu requirements are very difficult to match when buying in London and waiting for right North facing house will be impossible.
