Yesterday, my friends and colleagues Karen Lynn Ferraro and Christine Bushell and myself shepherded another amazing group of women into the world of Feng Shui Consultancy! We had seven wonderful women complete the 11-month intensive program at the prestigious Metropolitan Institute of Design in Syosset, Long Island, NY. This program included the completion of a Mid-Term and Final as well as two case study consultations (residential and business) and presentations to the entire class!
This year our schedule had to change because of Hurricane Sandy. We usually start in November and end in June. But Sandy had other plans for us. So, we finally got ourselves together and started our program in February.
This is a photo at the beginning of the program in February – all new, all strangers – soon to be soulful, life-lasting friends!
The training takes place one weekend per month from February to June, off July-August, and September through December. Every student receives a personal feng shui consultation on their home with their fellow peers and teachers. They also receive mentoring throughout the program on the case study consultations and any support required.
The curriculum includes the following topics: an Introduction to Feng Shui concepts to create a solid foundation; feng shui architecture and interior design applications; clutter clearing and ceremonial space clearing; divination with astrology and the awe-inspiring I-Ching (Book of Changes); aspects of health and how it relates to our homes (including training on electromagnetic fields, dowsing, green living); self-knowledge training using meditation and chi gong; and other spiritual practices necessary to do this sacred work.
Upon graduating, students of the 2013 program had the following to say about their experience with us:
- “Transformational!”
- “Inspiring!”
- “Amazing!”
- “Empowering!
In the upcoming month, the students are joining the International Feng Shui Guild (IFSG) as professional members and are studying to take the Red Ribbon Assessment, a challenging assessment of knowledge. As students of an IFSG Gold-School program, they are able to take this assessment as soon as they want (students from other programs have to wait a minimum of year before they are eligible).
