Calling the Spirits of Nature

A large white swan arose from the harbor waters and flapped noisily into the marsh.

And I knew that I had a connection with the guardian of the site.

Okay, let me back up.

I was out on a walk at my favorite place, with our dog, Sadie. Since I'm teaching an online course about connecting to nature spirit (plus, dowsing techniques, etc.) I regularly ask for guidance and inspiration from nature.

But this time was different. I realized that I didn't "know" the guardian of the site (that is, the spirit that oversees the coherence and harmony of the subtle realms, also known as a deva). I thought it odd since I've been coming here for over a decade yet have only been working with nature spirit for the past few years.

So, I introduced myself and then asked for permission to connect with the guardian.

I felt a distinct positive response and then immediately I received an image of a very large "ogre." Large like Shrek but hairy. Very much a masculine energy that was sweet and kind. I also received the name of Olaf.

I have an interesting metaphysical connection with Scandinavia, so I thought it was appropriate to get a Norse name, meaning ancestral heritage, and is also the patron saint of Norway.

At this point, what typically happens is that my rational brain gets in the way and craves confirmation! So I asked for an unmistakable sign.

That is where the swan came in. Not two seconds after I asked.

You know what happened next? Of course, I asked for another sign.

And just then a beautiful gold finch flew right above my head. This is a synchronicity. Because only a few days prior to this, I was just telling my husband that maybe only once a year I see a gold finch fly right above me in this area.

I continued my "dialog" with Olaf and he inspired me to stop and look at a very large tree along the waterfront that I have always admired.

Yes, this is a sacred place and a special tree. It's hard to tell but this white oak has to be at least 80 feet tall. And notice the image on the bark of nature spirit. (Yes, you can see them if you look).

This was not Olaf though, although he did give me a nudge when I passed his home in this old tree trunk (below). You can almost see his arms extend outward to embrace everyone who passes!

When we become more aware in our lives, we connect to the synchronicity and spirit of nature. Synchronicity shows up in patterns that are seemingly unconnected yet have amazing messages when we notice them.

I experience synchronicity all the time. I live with synchronicity. I make decisions based on it. I expect synchronicity to turn up in my life, and because I do, interconnected patterns are everywhere.

I love when I connect to the synchronicity of nature. It enriches my life.  The signs and symbols are everywhere, waiting to be noticed.
