NEW BOOK! Enchanted Earth

It’s Not “Feng’d”

I've had my share of teasing in my household. When I say I don't like a building or space, both my husband and son have to make comments such as "it's not feng'd" or "it's not shui'd". But I have the last laugh, because they are using feng shui in their language and are becoming more aware of the impact of feng shui.

Have you noticed how feng shui has become part of our modern language? Originally a noun, feng shui is now used in many different parts of speech:

a verb – as in "I'm going to feng shui my dog house"

an adjective – as in "It's just not feng'd" or "She's a feng shui comedian"

a subject – "Feng shui is the only way to design"

an interjection – "We must feng shui this space!"

a predicate – "The party was feng shui'd"

an object – "He loves feng shui"

and finally, an adverb – as in "He feng-shuily arranged his Mr. Potato Head collection."

Okay, that may be a reach! But it was fun!
