I read an article about a brand new website that claims to be able to find out if someone actually passed away in your home for “only $11.99”. It’s getting tremendous press – way too much press. So after reading about it my first thought was: “So what?” My second thought was “Then what?”
First, “So What?”
Most of my clients either know that information (from neighbors) or they can sense that there might be a spirit energy there. In fact, it doesn’t even matter if someone actually died in the house, spirit energies can still inhabit the space (don’t you watch “Ghost Hunters?”)
If a spirit had close ties to the building – either positive or negative – their spirit can still reside there. And even if there isn’t a specific spirit energy there, often there is negative energy left over from previous occupants of the building or the land itself (didn’t you see “Poltergeist?”).
“Now What?”
So if you find this information out, now what? Who are you going to call? (Okay, no need to go use that movie reference!)
There are space clearing professionals. In addition, many feng shui consultants have a “space clearing” practice that they can provide for their clients. Space clearing is a way to sense and remove unseen energy in a space that most often effects the lives of current occupants.
Why should you bother with a space clearing?
Negative energy can create havoc in any or all areas of your life. If there is sickness energy, sadness or anger these are very low vibrations. It can make the current occupants vulnerable to getting illness. But most often, if there were financial or marital troubles I often see my clients directly effected in those areas.
This is why I always ask my clients, prior to the consultation, if they know anything about previous occupants. Most can tell me enough information to inform me of the potential negative impacts. And like I said, there is almost always a correlation to what is currently going on in my client’s lives.
Space Clearing Methods
There are many ways to clear a space that engages the senses. Ritual can be visually rich and tactile with sacred symbols, candles and flowers. Scents are a popular technique. One method is to burn herbs, such as sage or frankincense, to raise the vibrations of the space. Essential oils are also used. One of my favorite techniques is sound.
