When I introduce myself to an audience, I tell them that I am a certified Feng Shui and Building Biology consultant. I get a lot of blank looks. Just like the one you have on your face now…
Most of you know a bit about Feng Shui (especially if you've been reading my blogs), but haven't heard of Building Biology. Here's a brief overview:
Building Biology was "invented" by German architect Helmut Ziehe in the 1980's. His mission was to raise awareness of the effect of environmental toxins on our physical bodies. He built a series of workshops, and eventually founded the Institute of Bau Biologie (now the Institute of Building Biology) on the premise that what is good the human body is good for the environment.
Building Biology is a holistic discipline that informs the design of residences and work spaces. IBE (Institute of Building Biology) is a non-profit education organization that provides online and on-site programs for the public and those in build/design fields, such as architects, interior designers, electricians, and feng shui consultants.
You can be certified as a Building Biology Practitioner (BBP) – providing education and preliminary assessment to clients – or a Building Biology Environmental Consultant (BBEC) – who provide a deep assessment and can provide mitigation when necessary.
I am a BBP and help my clients with education and assessment of:
- Electro-magnetic fields (EMFs)
- Geopathic stress
- Cleaning products
- Furnishings, flooring and wall treatments
